The Lemon Sisters Review

Wow! This book was about so much more than the relationship between sisters. Brooke and her sister grew apart, for reasons no one really understands except for Brooke. When her sister shows up on her doorstep in the midst of a mental breakdown and fearing that her husband is cheating on her, Brooke steps up and lets her sister stay at her place while she takes care of her three kids. She has a decision to make, take the kids to Disney or go back to Wildstone, where she hasn't been for seven years. She chooses to go home and face her demons and try to make amends.
Once she gets there, she is immediately in the throes of being a mom/aunt. She handles it well, but when it comes to seeing Garrett, the one person she loved and left, things aren't as easy. He is indifferent to her, and even though she understands his attitude, it hurts. Slowly, she starts revealing little pieces of what happened and why she stayed away. The reasons are heartbreaking. Even when her sister comes home, her sister still isn't happy. She doesn't trust her husband to put her first, and when he tries to do something he thought she wanted, it blows up in his face.
When she runs again, after old hurts and regrets seem to have been resolved, she breaks her heart and Garrett's, again. Garrett and her sister both accuse her of running because she is scared and things are bumpy, but she insists that she was always going to leave. Will she be happy when she gets back "home" or will she realize she really does need her family and Garrett? Will Garrett realize that, due to his past, he has erected a wall around his heart that he needs to knock down so he can fight for the only woman he has ever loved? Or will Garrett and Brooke be apart and unhappy?
I received an ARC in exchage for an honest, voluntary review.
