Whiskey by Molly McAdams Review

Review:
Outstanding book that had all the feels. I laughed, cried, held my breath, and screamed. I didn’t want to put this book down, but unfortunately I had to be an adult and work. Cayson and Emberly were two characters that broke my heart.
Cayson was always the prankster of the family and for in trouble when in high school. He was always in love with Emberly, but never believed he could have; he thought she and his brother were together. He had a secret, one made worse by his dad’s reaction and treatment. My heart broke so many times for Cayson. I was appalled at how his dad acted and was frustrated that a parent could do what he did.
Emberly saw things and heard things that no one else did. She was also the target of his pranks, she just didn’t know why. When she realized she was in love with him, she thought there was something wrong with her. Everything that happened to her was heart wrenching. She built walls and didn’t let anyone in.
When Cayson came back to ten almost ten years after he left, they tried to stay away. Their attraction was palpable, but there was so much hurt and betrayal that it seemed like there was no hope. Just when they are finally on the same page, the other shoe drops. She pushes him away, and regrets it, but decides it’s for the best. She can’t trust that he won’t leave again.
The secrets, betrayals, and angst in this book will keep you turning the pages. His family really upset me throughout this book, even though I know it would be hard hearing everything years later. I can’t wait for the next book in the series.
