Release day for Possession by A.M. Johnson and review

Grab your copy today.  There is so much turmoil in this book, but I couldn't put it down.

This was the first book I have read by A.M., but it won't be my last. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Declan and Paige are two individuals who are better together, but were separated for 9 years because of choices they both made when they were younger.
Declan has always had mental problems, which were controlled, for the most part. He would have delusions and hear voices, which sometimes made him unsure of what was real and what wasn't. When he met Paige in high school, he found her beautiful, but she was the exact opposite of him. She was wealthy, beautiful, normal. But against all odds, they became friends and when he started teaching her how to draw, they became more. Things were great. They loved each other. They spent as much time together as two high school students could. Until. . . she found out she was pregnant.
Declan was happy and wanted to marry her and take care of the baby. The only time he felt normal and didn't hear the voices was when she was in his life. She didn't want to risk ruining his life by marrying him and was 'helped' into making the decision of having an abortion. After the procedure, things weren't the same and when they got in a fight he told her not to come back.
He realized he made a mistake, but it was too late. She regretted the abortion but it was also too late. After that day, they didn't see each other for 9 years. She was married within a year and he knew he would never love anyone like he did her, but there was nothing he could do. She left her husband (he was a cheating, lying tyrant) and they happened to see each other again when he rented space to paint where she worked.
The story that takes place after they meet up again is one of heartbreak, sadness, forgiveness and hope. They have to learn how to trust each other again. They have to learn how to communicate with each other. Not only do they have to forgive each other, they have to forgive themselves. When her ex comes back, under the guise of having the divorce papers finally, will it break Declan for good or will his love for Paige be enough to save him? This book was painful to read at times, but overall, it was a book of hope and forgiveness.
