REVIEW:
Spider and Maria, on the surface, are two very different people, but I believe they are more alike than they think. All he wants is to be supported, believed and to have what everyone around him has, love. Maria also wants love, but she is on the run from some people that want something from her. She is placed with Spider for protection.
As soon as they meet, his protective instincts kick in, but so does the attraction. Unfortunately, everyone he has loved (except for a couple of people) have abandoned him, so he is hesitant to trust anyone again. All of the single guys seem to be interested in Maria, which has more to do with irritating Spider than anything.
The chemistry and connection between them is palpable. She has low self esteem and doesn’t understand or believe that he could really want her. It was definitely slow burn, but him opening up and telling her what happened to him when he was younger, and finding out they have a connection they didn’t know about, was worth the wait. When the people who are after Maria catch up to her, Spider realizes how much family he has and it is beautiful how everyone comes together.
I love this entire series and Spider wormed his way into my heart. I highly recommend this series, but especially this book. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest, voluntary review.
