Imagine With Me Blog & Review Tour

Imagine With Me by Kristen Proby is now live!

From New York Times Bestselling author Kristen Proby, comes an all new novel in her beloved With Me In Seattle series!

Shawn O'Callaghan loves his job as a screenwriter almost as much as he loves his family. But this latest project could quite possibly test his patience beyond anything he's ever had to endure. Generally unflappable, the author he's thrown into the trenches with pushes every button he has. Sometimes twice. And it doesn't help that he can't stop thinking about her in ways that are anything but professional. But how can he help it? The brunette is gorgeous beyond reason--and utterly infuriating.

Bestselling author Lexi Perry is finally about to leave her mark on the world; after all, seeing her dark and dangerous words brought to life is a dream come true. Until she meets the man who is supposed to make that happen. From the minute they laid eyes on each other, it was clear there would be tension, but she had no idea how much until they got down to business. He obviously doesn't understand her vision. Though she's having trouble lately too, given all she can picture is what he looks like under his clothes and imagining what it would sound like if he talked dirty to her in that sexy Irish lilt of his.
If they can find a way to meet in the middle, this movie could be one for the ages. As could their love.

Excerpt

“What do you do, Lexi?”

“I’m a writer.”

Archer lifts a brow and turns to the man next to him. “Oh? Shawn’s also a writer. What do you write?”

“Novels,” I say and turn to the screenwriter, but he holds up a hand, stopping me.

“I’m not here to entertain any new projects tonight,” Shawn says, immediately cutting me off.

He thinks I’m trying to network with him? To get him to read something I’ve written and further my career?

Well, screw him.

My face goes from friendly to cold in a heartbeat. Luke sighs.

This is a fantastic way to start this working relationship.

“That’s convenient,” I say, ice dripping from every damn word. “I’m not here to pitch a project to you, Mr. O’Callaghan. I know who you are, but it’s not terribly important to me. I do fine all on my own. Have a good night, gentlemen.”

I give a curt nod and turn away, my heels clicking on the hardwood floor as I make a hasty retreat.

I want to get out of here.

The audacity! What a jerk. I was already nervous about being here. Now, I get the disappointment of knowing I have to work with a conceited ass who’s clearly completely full of himself.

“Lexi.”

 I don’t turn around.

“Lexi.”

A hand lightly latches on to my elbow, and I turn to find Shawn staring down at me, his mouth set in a grim line.

“I owe you an apology. I didn’t know you were Nora, the author I’ll be working with over the next few weeks.”

“If you’d known, you would have been polite?”

He winces. “Again, I apologize. It’s been a shit day, and I was trying to avoid work talk. Not my finest moment.”

“No.” I glance down at the elbow he’s still holding hostage. He lets go. “It wasn’t. Have a good evening, Mr. O’Callaghan. I’ll see you on Monday.”

“Lexi—”

But I don’t turn back. I know I’ll have cooled down by the time I see Shawn again. I won’t be embarrassed. My feet won’t be killing me.

For now, I want to hide.

I’m so far out of my comfort zone, I couldn’t find it with a map.

Review:

Shawn and Lexi had an instant dislike for each other.  She was the author of the book that he was writing the screenplay for.  She was very uptight but he also found her fascinating.  She was attracted to him but thought he was trying to change too much of her book.  Once they decided to be co-workers with benefits, things started to change.

I loved how they grew as a couple organically.  Both of them had hang-ups and the agreed that it would end when she went back home.  His family was great and accepted her instantaneously.  Even though they both wanted more, neither one spoke up so she went home.

His family gave him a kick in the pants, but would it be too little, too late?  The grand gesture was awesome.  The chemistry was fantastic.  I loved this book and highly recommend it.  I received an ARC in exchange for an honest, voluntary review.

 Review:

Last Beautiful Girl is a book about love, family, loss and learning to trust after heartbreak.  Not only is this about Kyle and Sydney finding each other after a decade apart, it is also a heartbreaking tale of a little girl adapting to a new normal after a tragedy.

I adored Kyle. He single handedly knocked down barricades Sydney put up, but accepted Haley, flaws and all. He was patient, kind and understanding. My heart broke for him on more than one occasion, but he persevered and came out stronger for it. He was determined and never gave up.

Sydney has some walls built up and she did have a lot of changes going on, but sometimes the way she treated Kyle really irked me. She was thrown into an unpleasant and unexpected situation and was really floundering for a lot of the book. Unfortunately, she couldn’t see that she deserved to be happy until it was too late and she let Hayley dictate a few too many things.

Haley’s part in the book broke my heart. Not only did she have to learn a new way to live (I don’t want to give away what happens), but she has a lot of new people in her life. She does act bratty, but I understood why. When she has one of her tantrums, my heart broke for both Kyle and Sydney. Later, I was upset when she put her own life at risk.

Overall, this is a great, yet emotional, book. A great second chance romance that will leave you wanting more. Kyle really stole my heart. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest, voluntary review.

EXCERPT- Under the Stars

“I’ve never asked a boy over, you’re the first.”

“Me? Why me?”

When Christine looked up, her eyes glistened in the moonlight. “I don’t know. We’re both young, but you, us? I can’t explain it. I know you. Something inside me knows you or at least knows your heart. Does that make sense?” She leaned back on the grass, her knees bent as she looked up at the night sky.

I reclined next to her, making sure that our fingers were touching.

“Yeah, I know what you mean.” I was silent for several moments as I looked up at the stars. “The stars are so bright here. Do you know much about them?”

“Some, how about you?”

“Some. Like, I know that’s Orion’s belt, and the bigger, brighter one is Orion.” I pointed to three stars in a row and then one above it. “There’s the Big Dipper and Little Dipper.”

“How about those two bright stars to the left of Orion?”

“No clue.” I tilted my head, squinting and trying to make a shape out of the nearby stars.

“That’s Gemini. This is June, Gemini is the zodiac for June.” Christine placed her hand in mine. “The legend goes, when the two halves of Gemini, Castor and Pollux, were split, they were unhappy. So Zeus put them in the night sky so everyone under the stars would be able to see that the two halves were whole once more.” Christine made me want to be romantic. I’d always thought it was stupid, the way my dad went out of his way to bring my mother flowers. Or how he’d stop all of us from talking just to ask, isn’t your mom beautiful? Now, with Christine next to me, I got it...I totally got it.

Rolling over so I was gazing into her eyes, I stared into their warm, coffee-colored depths, “Asteri mou.” I lowered my lips to hers. “Asteri mou,” I whispered against her closed mouth. Asteri mou, I moaned as she opened, and I slid my tongue in, tasting the sweetness of this girl I wanted to spend every night looking up at the stars with.

Book description:

We’ve traveled the road with members of the Iron Orchids, now take a turn into three different stories from characters you’ve met along the way.

Under the Stars

You never know when a decision will put you on the path of destiny-

For George Christakos, it was going to Greece and seeing a living, breathing, goddess.

For Christine Petrakis, it was telling the gorgeous, rebellious, bad boy her name.

Now, the two of them will discover if a summer UNDER THE STARS turns into a love that lasts a lifetime.

Dear Juliet

She was used to taking calls and giving love advice.

Now, she’s taking calls and whispering dirty fantasies.

Only problem is, it's the same caller, every night, all night.

Life of Lemons

Lily, was used to the hard life. She hated her job at the diner, she had a zero bank account, and neighbors who didn’t mind their own business.

Callum McGuire, was used to none of that. In fact, he loved his life, he liked his job, and the sassy woman he met at a roadside diner—life wasn’t what was hard when he thought her.

About Joey W. Hill

Joey W. Hill writes about vampires, mermaids, boardroom executives, cops, witches, angels, simple housemaids . . . pretty much wherever inspiration takes her. She's penned over forty acclaimed titles and six award-winning series, and been awarded the RT Book Reviews Career Achievement Award for Erotica. But she's especially proud and humbled to have won the support and enthusiasm of a wonderful, widely diverse readership.

So why erotic romance? “Writing great erotic romance is all about exploring the true face of who we are – the best and worst - which typically comes out in the most vulnerable moments of sexual intimacy.” She has earned a reputation for writing BDSM romance that not only wins her fans of that genre, but readers who would “never” read BDSM romance. She believes that's because strong, compelling characters are the most important part of her books.

“Whatever genre you’re writing, if the characters are captivating and sympathetic, the readers are going to want to see what happens to them. That was the defining element of the romances I loved most and which shaped my own writing. Bringing characters together who have numerous emotional obstacles standing in their way, watching them reach a soul-deep understanding of one another through the expression of their darkest sexual needs, and then growing from that understanding into love - that's the kind of story I love to write."

Take the plunge with her, and don't hesitate to let her know what you think of her work, good or bad. She thrives on feedback!

Excerpt:

“Kim, stop.” Beck sighed, an exhausted sound. “Please.”

It was the please that did it. He was so rarely polite to her. She took a deep breath and turned to him. They needed to ratchet down the emotion. It was what always tripped them up. “I don’t think we can work together.”

“We certainly can’t if I continue to be a massive asshole.” He moved toward her, putting his hands on her shoulders. “I’m sorry. You’re still a touchy subject for me.”

She nodded, unable to say a word for fear of unleashing a tidal wave. Not seconds before she’d told herself to tamp down the emotion, but here it was, threatening to overwhelm her and all he’d had to do was touch her.

“How about we agree that Levi Green is a problem for both of us and we work together to solve it,” he offered. “Kim, we’ve been going in circles for years. Maybe it’s time we find a way to move on. I know I’m tired of hating you.”

She stepped back. She couldn’t have his hands on her when he used that word. It was wrong when all she’d ever done was love him. “Ariel pointed out that it would be easier on both of us if I stopped showing up in your life.”

His gaze softened. “Would it? I didn’t see you for a couple of years and it didn’t feel any easier.”

She let a moment pass. How was it she felt even more vulnerable than she had when she was with Levi? “I know. I’ve tried to move on. I don’t seem to be able to.”

His hands moved as if he wanted to touch her, but he seemed to rethink the idea. “So maybe we should go about this another way. Maybe we should take this time and do what we didn’t do before. Talk. Try to find a way to get through this. I’m sorry I said what I did about you and Levi. It still hurts and I’m lashing out. All I know is when I thought you were in danger, I knew I couldn’t sit on my hands and let it happen. I can’t do it now either. Let me come with you. Let me help fix this.”

No. It was the only word she should say to him, and then she should turn and walk out and never look back. If she let him in, he would hurt her no matter how good his intentions were. Beck had always had a well of rage inside him that he wouldn’t deal with, wouldn’t acknowledge even existed. He hadn’t changed.

“Okay.” She hadn’t changed either. She was still helpless when it came to this man. She was still in love with him and likely always would be.

He let go of a heavy breath. “Good.” He was silent for a moment, looking her over. “Did he hurt you? Are your wrists okay?”

She’d managed to get what was left of the zip ties off in the car. She had some red marks on her wrists. “They’re sore, but all right. He didn’t slap me around this time.”

She watched as Beck’s hands formed fists and wished she hadn’t said that. His rage was always simmering under the surface when she was around.

He seemed to let it go. “All right. We should get on the road. Can you grab some water and protein bars? I don’t know what we’ll find when we get to Paris.”

She kind of thought she did know. She’d done a lot of homework on Big Tag, and if Rene was who she thought he was, then Beck would feel right at home.

Still, she grabbed the water bottles and bars and stuffed them in the duffel Steph had provided for her. There were a couple of T-shirts and a pair of sweatpants that would likely be too short, but beggars couldn’t be choosers.

This was all she had in the world. It was odd. She would have said possessions were meaningless, but now that she had no access to any of the things that brought her comfort, she missed them with all her heart.

She had one thing. She reached up and found some peace knowing her ring was still there. All these years and she still had her wedding ring. It hung low around her neck, and she always hid it under her shirt when Beck was around.

It was all she had left of her marriage.

“You ready?” Beck fitted a cap to his head and passed her another. “You might want to put your hair up. I know if I was looking for you, all that hair would be the first thing to catch my eye.”

How many nights had he tangled his fingers in her hair and gently tugged, had he told her how beautiful it was and that he never wanted her to cut it? “Yeah. I’m ready.”

He stepped in front of her and placed the cap on her head, his gorgeous eyes staring down at her. “I really am sorry I said what I did. Can you forgive me?”

Her whole soul threatened to melt. She nodded.

“Can I hug you? I want to. I want to reassure myself that you’re really okay.”

She nodded again and then she was in his arms for the first time in years.

“Promise me he didn’t get a chance to hurt you,” Beck whispered.

He sounded like he actually cared. His arms around her made her feel safer than she had in forever. “He threatened me with a bunch of stuff, but I don’t want to talk about it. I will, but not now.”

“Okay.”

They stood there for the longest time, the sound of his heartbeat the only thing she could hear.
