Review:
Rainer and Maeve have been best friends since they were children, but Rainer has been in love with her for years. Unfortunately, he missed his chance and he has come to terms with only being friends. When he shows up with his coffee date and her husband storms out of the house he knows something is wrong. Maeve is the kindest person, who puts everything and everyone above herself. Raising three children, essentially alone because her husband is a truck driver, she is struggling. When he comes home early, they fight and she kicks him out.
Months later, Rainer is still sleeping on Maeve’s couch, Alex isn’t responding to texts or phone calls, and Maeve is finally ready to accept that her marriage is over. She is also seeing Rainer and Alex in new lights. The chemistry and relationship between Rainer and Maeve is fantastic. He always helps her and she is realizing how different her life is with Rainer as more than her friend. When their relationship changes, their interactions are spicy and realistic.
Just when things are looking good for them, Maeve finds out some news that could change everything. Alex also comes back and she has a tough decision to make: give Alex a second chance or move on with Rainer. I loved this book and can’t wait to see what happens next in Wilder Valley.
**I was lucky enough to also get an ALC of this title and Erin Mallon and Robert Hatchet did a fantastic job of bringing the characters to life. Every emotion was heightened and they made me feel as if I was experiencing everything.
