Ten years later they see each other for the first time again and both find the attraction still there. She wants to be able to trust him but it’s hard because he didn’t fight and she has a secret that she didn’t tell him. He promises that he’s going to find a way to be there for her and prove to her that he wants her. When he finds out the secret that she was keeping he promises her that he will call her but he need some time. Due to her past she has a hard time believing that happiness can exist.
While this isn’t her typical rom com, Ms. Blakely still managed to weave a wonderful tale of second chances, love and family that well have you staying up all night to see if Brent and Shannon can find their happily ever after. When we first meet the couple they are trying to find a way to make a long distance relationship work After months of not seeing each other and miscommunication Shannon has a surprise to tell him so she goes to find him and misinterprets something that she sees. Instead of confronting him and giving him a chance to explain she decided it’s best to end the relationship. Unfortunately, he doesn’t fight for her and they part ways.
The relationship between Shannon and her brothers is one of support and unending love. A family tragedy made so they had to rely on themselves, as well as, reinvent themselves. I was really happy to see that neither one held grudges and trusted the other enough to believe and forgive as fast as they did. There is a little mystery involved when it comes to Shannon’s mom and leaves the reader with a cliffhanger. The writing was excellent and the story was great.
