Jonathan Lake is the beloved NYC mayor who’s making a run for Governor. His widowed status and close relationship with his daughter casts him as the darling of the press, and the candidate to beat, but behind the flash of the cameras, things are spinning out of control. It all has to do with his strait laced, ruthlessly organized assistant. Her skills and reserved demeanor are perfect to run his campaign, but her brilliant brain has become a temptation he’s been fighting for too long. Can he convince her to take a chance on a long-term campaign for love or will his efforts end up in scandal?

REVIEW:

Another great job by Ms. Probst...I have hoped for this book since we were introduced to Jonathan in Mia’s book. I was so happy he got his own book, but sad it was only a novella. Jonathan is everything sexy and then some. He is a mans man, but a hero to all causes. He lost his wife 5 years ago which left him a widowed father. Those years were very tough for him and his daughter because, in the beginning, neither knew how to help each other grieve. Jonathan threw himself into work and Chloe did everything to lash out.
Jonathan has secretly had feelings for his assistant Alyssa for 2 years. Alyssa is his polar opposite but they couldn’t be better suited for each other. I loved reading how she longed to be with him but felt she was not the “right” type for him. She said no to more between them and her reasons were justified. She didn’t want to hold him back because of her “quirks” and she didn’t see what he saw in her. She also didn’t want for people to think she slept her way to the top. When they finally realized they couldn’t go without each other the chemistry was off the charts! I cannot wait for Chloe’s story, which will bring us more of all these characters.
