I have no idea how Max Monroe does it every time, but they are geniuses
when it comes to writing hilarious, yet heartfelt stories. In this best
friends to lovers romance, we get to meet Luke and Ava. From their first
meeting, you know that they are going to grab you, keep your attention,
and not let go until the end. Unfortunately for Luke, Ava also puts him
in the friend zone almost immediately.
Even though they both have
dated other people throughout college and their twenties, they have
always been there for each other and been the others greatest supporter.
When Ava feels pressure from her mom and her high school arch enemy,
she lies and says that she has a boyfriend that she will be bringing to
Christmas, her sister's wedding and her fifteenth high school reunion.
This is when the hilarity begins: she tries online dating and each date
gets worse and worse.
When Luke gets some great news, he agrees to be
her fake boyfriend; after all, who knows her as well as he does? He
struggles with telling her the news, because he doesn't want what they
have to end. As they complete the family time, they both start realizing
that their feelings might be more than friendship, but when his news
comes out, Ava doesn't take it well and she pushes him away. Is this
really what she wants?
I loved seeing the Thatch and all of the other
billionaires. The grand gesture is sweet and will have you swooning-in
fact, I think Luke might be the guy I have swooned for the most out of
all of Max Monroe's men. Seeing the relationship from college and
adulthood grow and mature was great. I can't wait to see what this
dynamic duo comes up with next. I received an ARC in exchange for an
