Blurb:

Twenty years ago I had the best night of my life. He was a musician passing through town and I was the naive college student who fell for his charm. We talked for hours, he made my body come alive, and in the early morning when he left, he promised to call.

Spoiler alert. He never did.

Wilder was the first man to show me fairytales or happily ever afters don’t exist. Every man I’ve loved since has only confirmed it.

I’m tired of giving my heart away and being met with disappointment. I need a break from everything. Which is how I end up in the Arizona mountains on a two week vacation.

The last person I expect to see in this small town is him.

Wilder.

It doesn’t matter that decades have passed or that his face is devoid of the smile burned into my memory, I’d recognize this man anywhere.

Only, he doesn’t remember me. Not when he’s kind of an ass, and not when he follows me out to my car to apologize, and especially not when he offers to take me to dinner.

I should say no. Hell, I should tell him to get lost. But instead, I give him my number . . . along with a fake name. There’s no harm in having a little fun. Besides, it’s not as if I’m going to fall in love. Only a fool would make that mistake twice.

Wild Love is a one night stand, missed connections, second chance romance written as a modern twist on the classic Cinderella fairytale and features a couple in their forties finding love in a small town. Readers can enjoy Wild Love as a standalone, or they can begin with Wild Hearts, Ryan and Val's story.

 Review

This book was fantastic. Two people who meet under unlikely circumstances fall hard and fast, but when he leaves the next morning all he has is a piece of paper with her phone number on it. Twenty years later, they meet up again. She recognizes him, but he only feels a connection to her that he can’t explain.

As they get to know each other again they fall quickly again and he finds her as a source of comfort and light while he is dealing with family secrets, illness and old hurts. Simone is guilty because she gave him her name, she wasn’t honest and now she doesn’t know when to bring it up. Wild surprises her when he sings a song and it is about their time together.

When Wild finds out a secret about his past, it coincides with the truth about her name and he pushes her away. Whether they can find their way back together remains to be seen.  I received both an ARC and an ALC and both were excellent. Maxine Mitchell brought so much emotion to the character that I felt the emotions she was going through. Robert Hatchet blew me away with his performance. Not only did he infuse the character with depth and emotion but when he sang the two songs I wanted more. In fact, I can’t get either song out of my head.

I can’t wait to see what happens next in this series. These are my honest and voluntary thoughts and review.
